Building a giveaway

The five-step wizard: prize, mechanic, tasks, rules and review.

Giveaways are built in a five-step wizard that autosaves as a draft, so you can leave and come back at any point.

1. The basics

Title, description, cover image and category. The cover image is what carries a giveaway on Discover — use your own product photography, not stock.

2. The prize

Pick the type and set the value:

  • Physical — you ship it, so factor in delivery.
  • Voucher or digital — load working, unexpired codes before publishing. Unique per winner unless you deliberately choose to share one code.
  • Cash — winners submit their bank details when they claim. You make the transfer, then upload the receipt and reference number.

Set your winner count here too.

3. The mechanic

  • Instant win — a fixed number of slots awarded first come, first served. Great for footfall and urgency.
  • Draw — everyone eligible enters until the close date, then winners are picked by a recorded, reproducible draw. Better for building an audience over time.

4. The tasks

Tasks are what you get in exchange for the prize. Participants are entered after their first task, and every task is worth +1 entry. Mark a task Mandatory when it must be done to win, or leave it optional as a bonus entry. Every giveaway needs at least one task anyone can do without a social app (visit a link, answer a question, lead form, upload, share this giveaway).

Tasks needing proof land in your review queue, so don't ask for proof unless you need it.

5. Dates and rules

Set the start and close dates, the minimum age for your giveaway, and any extra terms of your own. Then review and publish.

Publishing costs credits and requires an active plan, a verified business, and acceptance of the current Business Terms.
